One of the most challenging and complex areas of modern medicine is Transplantation. With improved drugs and advances in surgical techniques we have formed an outstanding multidisciplinary team to include transplant surgeons, nephrologists, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers, and many other trained specialists.

 

 

Education

The transplant team is committed to providing education to residents and medical students (clinical and pre-clinical years) to ensure that the most current and appropriate treatments are delivered to our patients. This education is in the form of didactic structured lectures, clinical and bedside teaching.  In addition, it is expected that the residents and medical students have access and use the online educational curriculum to the American Society of Transplant Surgery (ASTS).

Research

The field of Transplantation Surgery is evolving at a tremendous rate.  The spectacular success of organ transplantation over the last few decade have saved, lengthened and immeasurably improved thousands of lives.  The first transplant at The University of Vermont Medical Center ....
