(MARCH 14, 2019) Often touted as the single-most important day in a medical student’s medical school career, Match Day is the day when graduating medical students learn where they’ll spend the next three to seven years for specialty training. March 15, 2019, fourth-year students at the University of Vermont’s (UVM) Larner College of Medicine and soon-to-be-doctors across the U.S. and world learned the location of their U.S. residency program.

More than 100 anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and healthcare professionals with an interest in the field from around the U.S. convened in picturesque Stowe, Vt. for the 24th Annual Vermont Perspectives in Anesthesia Conference March 6-10, 2019.

Twenty years ago, a small local chapter of the American Lung Association took on the daring task of bringing an Airways Clinical Research Center (ACRC) to Vermont. On February 28, clinicians, patients, donors, staff and board members gathered to celebrate two decades of lung disease treatment research in the only ACRC in a rural area - the Vermont Lung Center at UVM's ACRC, part of the nation’s largest not-for-profit network of clinical research centers dedicated to asthma and COPD treatment.

"Why does society first think 'male' when they hear the word 'surgeon'?" Associate Professor Surgery and Neurosurgery Chief Susan Durham, M.D., asked the group of medical students.

Dozens of preceptors, as well as leaders and staff from the Larner College of Medicine and its Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) partner Hudson Headwaters Health Network (HHHN), gathered at the historic Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, N.Y. for dinner and community project presentations by Class of 2020 medical students Dylon Gookin, Isabella Kratzer, Chad Serels and Collin York on February 20.
