External Funding Opportunities

The NNE-CTR provides annual funding opportunities through our Pilot Projects Program, and there are many additional funding opportunities through our core institutions and nationally. Check out the list below of funding opportunities that may be relevant to our NNE-CTR members.

Institutional Funding

Maine Health

• The Grants & Contracts Office contains many resources and links to both institutional and external funding opportunities for investigators at MaineHealth.
• The Innovation Fund aims to foster and accelerate innovation within MaineHealth by empowering colleagues to continually seek novel solutions to the real problems that our patients and communities face.
• The Mentored Research Grant Program is designed to encourage and support the research capabilities of junior provider staff throughout MaineHealth.

University of Vermont

• The UVM Cancer Center provides several funding awards for UVM affiliates that support cancer-related projects, postdoctoral research, and career development.
• The UVM Larner College of Medicine offers research, professional development, and teaching grants to support and enhance the health research and activities of LCOM affiliates.
• The UVM Office of the Vice President for Research offers over a dozen awards and funding opportunities available to UVM affiliates.

External Funding

• The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality supports research to improve the quality, effectiveness, accessibility, and cost effectiveness of healthcare.
• The Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs foster novel approaches to biomedical research in response to the expressed needs of the American public through grant funding.
• The Health Resources & Services Administration supports research that improves health outcomes and strives for health equity through access to quality services, a skilled health workforce, and innovative programs.
• The National Institutes of Health (NIH) supports biomedical, clinical, and translational research and discoveries that improve health and save lives.
• The National Science Foundation (NSF) aims to support basic research and people to create knowledge that transforms the future.
