  • Innovative Research Model Sheds Light on Immune Response in Dengue Infection

    Investigators in UVM's Vaccine Testing Center and Center for Translational Global Infectious Disease Research (TGIR) have uncovered details of the human immune response to infection with dengue - a close "cousin" of the Zika virus - which 40 percent of the global population is at risk for contracting. Their study findings were reported recently in the Lancet’s open-access journal EBioMedicine.
  • Research Laureate Bates Discusses Physicist’s Approach to the Lung April 8

    On Monday, April 8, Professor of Medicine Jason Bates, Ph.D., Sc.D., a world-class researcher and internationally recognized expert in the field of lung mechanics, will present his Research Laureate lecture, titled “A Physicist’s Approach to the Lung,” at noon in the Sullivan Classroom in the Medical Education Center at the Larner College of Medicine.

    (MARCH 22, 2019) Michael LaMantia, M.D., associate professor of medicine, head of geriatrics and the director of the UVM Center on Aging, was quoted in an Associated Press article about an 84-year-old pole vaulter from Shelburne, Vt. and physically ability in seniors.
  • Community Medical School on Public Health Impact of Vaping Draws 100+ Attendees

    The Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and UVM Medical Center are hosting a Community Medical School lecture by Associate Professor of Psychiatry Andrea Villanti, M.P.H., Ph.D., titled “Vaping, Juuling, and E-Cigarettes: Public Health Implications” on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 6 p.m. in Carpenter Auditorium in the Given Building at the College of Medicine.
