The Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont welcomed alumni from classes ending in “7” and “2” at Medical Reunion June 2 to 4, 2017. Highlights included an investiture ceremony for Kennith Sartorelli, M.D.’87, as the inaugural Green & Gold Professor of Pediatric Surgery; the Class of 1967 50th Reunion lunch and medallion ceremony; tours of the College and UVM Medical Center; and the Celebration of Achievements Awards and Recognition Ceremony.

NBC News recently highlighted UVM Larner College of Medicine Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Rebecca Bell, M.D., in an article titled, "Vermont Doctor Handles Vaccine Skeptics With a Listen-First Approach."

The excitement was steadily building as members of the Larner College of Medicine’s Class of 2017 gathered in Cook Commons to don their caps and gowns and drape their hard-earned medical degree hoods over the crook of their right arms.

For patients who survive an episode of critical illness, they can experience weakness and other limitations to their function long after they’ve left the hospital. But there’s hope in sight: A unique, multi-site clinical trial that aims to improve outcomes for intensive care unit patients using a combination of early nutritional supplementation and exercise.

The Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont recognized the many accomplishments of the Class of 2017 and several of their teachers in UVM’s Davis Center on May 15 at Honors Night.
