Charlotte News Lauds Janssen-Heininger as a ‘Humble Superstar’

(JANUARY 12, 2023) Yvonne Janssen-Heininger, Ph.D., professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, is described as a “humble superstar” in an article about cancer research at UVM in The Charlotte (Vermont) News.

(JANUARY 12, 2023) Yvonne Janssen-Heininger, Ph.D., professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, is described as a “humble superstar” in an article about cancer research at UVM in The Charlotte (Vermont) News. “She is an advocate for women scientists, having organized gender equity sessions at national meetings. She is also an outstanding mentor. She initiated our annual Research Day and other efforts to support our investigators,” Debra Leonard, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the department where Janssen-Heininger works, told Vermont Medicine magazine. Among colleagues Dr. Janssen-Heininger mentions who have collaborated on her cancer research are four Charlotters: Brooke Mossman, Ph.D., emerita professor of pathology and laboratory medicine; David “Bebo” Seward, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of pathology and laboratory medicine; anatomic pathologist Kelly Butnor, M.D., professor of pathology and laboratory medicine; and anatomic pathologist Sharon Mount, M.D., professor of pathology and laboratory medicine.
