Rescue professionals are invited - October 8, 2020 - Wilderness Medicine Conference.

The launch of UVM’s first-ever Wilderness Medicine Conference last year tapped into a great enthusiasm among a wide range of medical professionals for improving medical care in remote locations. Participants hailed from 11 states and Quebec, and included ski patrol, chiropractic and naturopathic professionals in addition to physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners. This year’s event will be an even bigger draw for “medical and interprofessional education” with the introduction of credit approval for EMTs.

Course Director John King, MD, Vice-Chair of Family Medicine at UVM, has assembled another great lineup of topics and presenters from northern New England and upstate New York. Re-scheduled to Thursday, October 8, 2020, the conference program will be presented in a single day.

While the final agenda re-configurations still need to be confirmed, topics will address medical issues and injuries encountered in a wide range of settings, including cold and snow, high elevations, excessive heat, water rescues, and back-country challenges. In addition to lectures, the agenda will feature practical skills sessions this year.
