New England Nursing Academy (1)The New England Nursing Academy is administered by the UMass Chan Medical School/Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) in Worcester, MA in collaboration with Area Health Education Center (AHEC) partners from across the region including the University of Vermont (UVM) AHEC Program with the UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences. It is funded by the Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention - Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academies program grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Preceptor Skills Webinars​

Preceptor Skills Webinars incorporate teaching best practices, principles of adult learning theory, and strategies for audience engagement. Attendees will be awarded free contact hours upon completion of a survey at the end of each session. These sessions are live or recorded. Free contact hours are also available for the recorded sessions.

Teaching of Tomorrow Conferences

A total of four days of training: two, two-day in-person conferences, beginning Friday morning and ending Saturday afternoon. Attendance is required at both sessions.

Conference topics include:

  • Characteristics of good teachers​
  • Conducting needs assessments​
  • Writing and implementing learning objectives​
  • Effective and efficient teaching methods​
  • Feedback and evaluation​
  • Challenging educational interactions​

The learning sessions alternate between large-group didactics and small-group discussions, where participants have the opportunity to practice new teaching skills, using case studies and problem-based learning.

The dates for the 2024-2025 Teaching of Tomorrow sessions at the Wellsworth Hotel in Southbridge, MA are:

  • November 22-23, 2024
  • March 7-8, 2025
