Congratulations!

Teaching Academy Master Teacher, and Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Bei Zhang, MD, PhD, was selected for an ABE (Association of Biochemistry Educators) Distinguished Scholar Award for her submission entitled “Activate Students' Learning Outside Classroom”.

Eight books published by Jones & Bartlett Learning were honored with American Journal of Nursing (AJN) “Book of the Year Awards 2022.” One of the books to receive this award, in the History and Public Policy category, is A History of Public Health: From Past to Present by Jan Carney, MD, MPH, Distinguished Educator and Associate Dean for Public Health and Health Policy.

We need Moderators for the NEGEA 2023 Annual Conference Oral Abstract Presentations!

The format for the Oral Abstract Presentation (OAP) is a 10-minute podium presentation, followed by a 5-minute questions-and-answer period. Each 75-minute OAP session will consist of 3-5 individual presentations.

MODERATOR’S ROLE

• Read abstracts of the presentations that are assigned to the session from the on-line conference program in advance.  If there is a no show, each presenter can have more time for Q/A.
• Prepare one question on each abstract in case audience has no questions during the 5 minutes allocated for Q & A after each 10-minute presentation.
• Meet presenters in the assigned room and get their full name.
• Ensure that ALL presenters have their presentations on a USB drive and assist with basic session technology.
• Introduce presenter before each presentation.
• Keep strict track of time.
• Remind participants to complete the on-line conference evaluation form.
• Complete brief feedback survey for the session.

In 2020 and 2021, the AAMC partnered with StoryCorps Connect to offer guided interviews for health care professionals and trainees to reflect on the COVID pandemic and/or on the racial unrest impacting the nation at that time. These interviews are preserved at the Library of Congress.

Frymoyer Scholars Program Showcase

Through the Frymoyer Scholars Program, the John W. and Nan P. Frymoyer Fund for Medical Education supports physicians and nurses who are actively engaged in teaching University of Vermont medical and nursing students who embody the best qualities of the clinician teacher. The program is an investment in outstanding medical education and promotes teaching that emphasizes the art of patient care. This session will showcase a few of the many Frymoyer Scholars Program recipients and their projects.
