Residency & Fellowship
Department faculty are highly committed to excellence in the education of residents and fellows and cultivate an atmosphere of scholarly inquiry where clinical reasoning skills are emphasized. Our faculty are skilled in providing the necessary level of expert supervision for learners in balance with opportunity for independence and autonomy as clinical judgment matures. This dedication provides a strong foundation for our graduates’ consistent records of accomplishment in employment and fellowship training opportunities, productivity in research and scholarly pursuits, and recognition for teaching and humanism.
Residency
The Department of Medicine offers Internal Medicine and Dermatology residency programs. Internal Medicine residents can pursue a three-year categorical internal medicine program, a three-year primary care internal medicine program, and a one-year internal medicine preliminary program.
Fellowship
All programs are characterized by strong personalized faculty teaching and commitment to the professional success of fellows, appropriate mix of hospital and ambulatory-based clinical activities and procedural training, and opportunities and expectations for success in the research setting with nationally and often internationally recognized enthusiastic and accessible research mentors.
