  • Application Deadline - Massachusetts General Hospital Research Trainee Program (SRTP): 1/24 Financial support, including housing, a $5,000 stipend, and travel grants based on need. Read More here… 
  • Application Deadline - St. Jude Summer 2025 Cancer Research Opportunity: Program participants will receive a $600/week subsistence allowance. Fully furnished group housing will be provided at no cost for non-local participants . Read More here.. 
  • Paid Summer Research Fellowship Opportunity: 3/ 19, 2025 Gain hands-on experience in cancer research under the mentorship of a UVM Cancer Center member, as a paid Summer Research Fellow! Under the UVM Cancer Center Summer Research Fellowship, students will receive a stipend of $4,000 to conduct cancer-related basic, clinical/translational, or population science research with a UVM Cancer Center member. This program has offered medical, graduate and undergraduate students a broad spectrum of cancer research opportunities in disciplines ranging from surgery, pharmacology, and radiation oncology to biochemistry, pathology, and psychiatry.   • The Lucey Prize: Deadline 4/4. The “Jerold and Ingela Lucey Early Career Investigator Prize for Innovations in Infant or Child Health”. This is a prize to be awarded for completed or near-completed work within the past three years and not to fund a research proposal. The prize will be a monetary award, paid directly to the recipients, along with an award plaque. The recipients shall be selected based on merit for their work exploring new horizons in neonatology and/or other areas of pediatrics. The prize awarded includes $1500 to each level awardee or their team and will be distributed at a Pediatric Grand Rounds May 28, 2025.. Read More Here… 
  • Cancer Research Education Excellence in Radiotherapy Program (CaREER) : Deadline 01/31. A mentored 12-week hands-on research experience through a co-op mentored by world class cancer researchers and clinicians at campus Hopkins and collaborators. Read More here….

  • Summer Research Opportunity: Application Deadline: 5:00pm ET, January 27, 2025. Summer 2025 National Medical Student Injury Research Training Program. The Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital will virtually host its annual Injury Research Program for medical students again during the summer of 2025. The goal of this program is to provide research training to future physician-investigators while introducing them to the field of injury research and prevention.   • Apply for Look at Larner 2025 Leadership! 1/31/25. We are seeking Class of 2028 students to apply for a leadership role for Look at Larner 2025, an annual student-led outreach program that supports aspiring physicians from underrepresented and underserved backgrounds. Event Leads play a key role in outreach and recruitment, reviewing applications, issuing acceptances, developing the event agenda, and communications to participants as well as Larner students, staff, and faculty involved in the event. Supported by LCOM Admissions Ambassadors and the Office of Medical Student Admissions, this is a great opportunity to strengthen leadership skills, make meaningful connections, and contribute to advancing diversity and equity in medicine.   • Summer Emergency Medicine Fellowship: 3/1. Please apply to be a part of the four-week Emergency Medicine Fellowship this summer. The UVM Department of Emergency Medicine is pleased to sponsor the Emergency Medicine (EM) Summer Medical Student Fellowship for the upcoming 2025 year, designed for LCOM students to complete in the summer between their M1 and M2 years. 1st year medical students with a budding interest in emergency medicine are encouraged to apply. The goal of this pre-clerkship clinical summer fellowship is to provide students with early exposure to the complex, fast-paced, and high-volume nature of emergency medicine. This will provide rising M2 LCOM students the opportunity to gain early exposure to the rigors of a clinical rotation in emergency medicine, valuable experience to bring to their 4th year core and extramural rotations in Emergency Medicine, and improve students' success on residency applications.   • Foundations Awards Celebration for the Class of 2027: 1/28, 10:30 am Hoehl Gallery. Celebrate the end of Foundations with your class! The Class of 2027 will reach a significant milestone in your medical education with the completion of the Foundations level classroom education. As you prepare to transition from classroom to the clinic, let’s celebrate your accomplishments and honor those who supported you along the way. Awards will be presented to members of the class for their achievements in Foundations coursework and to faculty and staff selected by the Class of 2027. All members of the class are highly encouraged to attend to celebrate the end of your Foundations curriculum and to recognize the achievements of your classmates, faculty, and staff.   • Given Locker Clean Out ACTION REQUIRED: Deadline:03/31 is the deadline to clean out your Given Lockers. Please remember to clean out your Given Lockers before the 03/31/25 deadline. Failure to do so before the deadline will result in a $50 cleaning fee. The Office of Medical Education require rising Clerkship level students to have their Given Lockers cleaned out by March 31, 2025, prior to entering their clerkship year or before leaving for any away rotations in order to prepare for the next class. Please contact Beth Stinebring , the OME Administrative Coordinator, with any questions or concerns.

  • Your applications are in, your interviews are wrapping up, so now what? Join us for the Co2025 R3 Meeting (Registration, Ranking, and Results) meeting on Monday January 27 at 5-6 sponsored by deans for students to discuss the process of creating and submitting /certifying you Rank order list for the Main Match.   • National Resident Matching Program: DEADLINE 1/31. If you are applying in the Main Match, you must complete registration by the deadline. After that deadline, you must pay an additional $50 late fee ($120 total fee). 
  • IMPORTANT:Take a moment to confirm that OASIS reflects all course requirements needed for graduation. In accordance with Policy 565.45 Graduation Degree Requirements, all requirements must be scheduled by January 1. Please contact Advanced Integration Level Curriculum Coordinator Michelle McKay for assistance. 
  • Graduation Regalia: DEADLINE 2/5. It’s time order regalia for your graduation ceremony in May-- Orders must be placed no later than Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Read More here… 
  • Howe Award for Excellence in Surgery: DEADLINE 3/31 Howe Award for Excellence in Surgery Co2025. Established Harry Howe, MD '52, this award ($1000) will recognize a student for excellence in the field. To be considered submit an essay (<1000 words) on " The Attributes of an Outstanding Physician" along with a brief personal statement. Submit to Lisa Washburn

Graduate students are highly sought tenants in the Burlington area and property owners often advertise specifically to them with special rates (less than would be offered to undergraduate students). Don't hesitate to ask housing contacts if they would consider lowering the advertised rate to secure a graduate student; it never hurts to ask!

Lost & Found

Lost something? Email the Office of Medical Student Education (OMSE) a description of the item. OMSE and the Dana Medical Library recently joined the UVM campus-wide lost & found system and search not only the College of Medicine, but campus as a whole to see if it's been turned in. If it hasn't, the office can file a claim for the item should someone turn it in soon!

Found something? Please turn it into either the Office of Medical Student Education (Given Courtyard n100) or the Dana Medical Library (First floor of the Medical Education Center) and we will be sure to log it into the Campus-Wide Lost & Found Database.

Found items are kept up to 30 days, and then are donated to various local organizations depending on the item.
