Honors Night for the Class of 2023

At the event members of the graduating class are recognized for their accomplishments and honor faculty and staff who have supported them along the way.

Clinical Excellence Awards

Senior Student Awards

Awarded to students in the graduating class, faculty, and staff by the Larner College of Medicine

  • The Charles T. Schechtman, M.D.'26 Award - First & Second Prizes for excellence in the clinical care of patients, and is based on outstanding work during the Clerkship Year.  There are eight clerkships during the Clinical Clerkship year.
  • The David Babbot, M.D. "Caring and Seeing Award" honoring a physician, who for decades served as a role model for students and residents at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. The student awardee has demonstrated commitment to medical education and excellence and personal attentiveness in patient care; strong and caring relationships with faculty members; and commitment to the educational mission of the College of Medicine
  • The Kerzner Family Prize for outstanding service to the community
  • The Mimi A. Reardon, M.D.'67 Award for service to the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine
  • The Dignity in Medicine Award awarded by the UVM Larner College of Medicine Gender & Sexuality Alliance in recognition of respect, inclusion, and support for LGBTQ students, colleagues, and patients.
  • The Dean William Eustis Brown Award recognizes a student for their broad cultural interests and loyalty to the Larner College of Medicine
  • The Lamb Fellowship Award for a student who best exemplifies concern and care for the total patient
  • The Joseph Cleary, M.D. Award for a student who has shown a particular commitment to ensuring the success of the educational and clinical experience at the Larner College of Medicine Connecticut Nuvance Campus
AHEC (Area Health Education Center) Scholar Recognition
  • A national program to recognize students who complete 160-hours of eligible Area Health Education Center (AHEC) activities to increase knowledge, strengthen leadership skills, and gain competencies within broad topic areas: inter-professional education/practice, behavioral health integration, community health workers, virtual learning and telehealth, social determinants of health, cultural competency, medical practice transformation, and current and emerging health issues.
