  • Programs will start reviewing applications in ERAS next Wednesday, September 25 at 9am ET. It is strongly suggested that you submit complete applications prior to the release. All applications submitted to programs in ERAS between 9am on 9/4 and 9am on 9/25 will be time-stamped for 9:00 am on 9/25. Applications submitted after that will be time-stamped in real time.
    • All MSPEs will be uploaded over the next few business days prior to the 9/25 release, across all platforms. You do not need to wait for the MSPE in order to submit your applications, the MSPE will be auto-attached to your applications when it is uploaded.
  • Regarding Program Signals: Remember that you must assign program signals in the Programs menu on the Saved Programs page BEFORE submitting your applications to programs accepting program signals. Once you have applied, you can no longer send a signal to that program. For a demo of this process, please watch the MyERAS Program Signals Update video.
  • Authorize the release of your USMLE transcript in ERAS (Documents tab > Additional Documents).
  • Med School Transcripts for any/all of the application platforms must be requested through the UVM Registrar’s Office. If you haven’t already, please see the online instructions for requesting a transcript for Emma Faustner to upload.
  • NRMP Registration is open. 66 of you have already registered with the NRMP (the Main Match)! If you are participating in the Main Match and haven’t registered yet, please do so before 11:59 pm EST on January 31, 2025 to avoid extra fees.
  • Don’t forget to add your NRMP ID to ERAS (Application tab > Personal Information > Match Information). This helps programs find you easily for ranking.

INFORMATION ON INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENCY AT MAYO CLINIC: As the world’s first integrated, multispecialty group practice and a leader in clinical care, research and education, Mayo Clinic trains residents in a highly supportive and collaborative environment that fosters the highest standard of medical care. Mayo Clinic established one of the world’s first formalized physician training programs in 1915; since that time, the Internal Medicine Residency has had a long track record of transforming great medical students into outstanding physicians, educators, and scientists.

  • ~100% ABIM board pass rate
  • Robust primary care experience including:
    • Longitudinal care for local residents (population ~144,000)
    • Diverse local communities (35% minority enrollment in Rochester public schools)
    • Large underserved populations including immigrants, refugees, and patients with limited English proficiency
    • Dedicated primary care track with additional mentorship, research, and clinical opportunities
  • Strong productivity (average 4.8 peer-reviewed publications/resident; national average 0.6)
  • Excellent fellowship match (>80% match into one of their top 3 program choices)
  • 3-year longitudinal educator development program
  • Broad array of clinical and non-clinical electives including Mayo International Health Program elective and medical journalism elective through ABC News in New York
  • Longitudinal Point of Care Ultrasound curriculum and procedural rotation
  • Health equity curriculum including didactics, integrated clinical experiences, and opportunities for regional and national advocacy

Our curriculum includes daily didactic sessions on clinical care and structured programs to develop our residents as educators and life-long learners. From our involvement in IPASS to ensure safe hand-offs to our participation in PACER to enhance interprofessional education in primary care, our program is at the forefront of innovation in graduate medical education as we prepare physicians to practice in the future healthcare system.  Furthermore, our residents have vast opportunities to participate in cutting-edge basic and clinical research with leaders in their fields.

We would like to encourage  senior medical students interested in a career in Internal Medicine or its subspecialties to consider a visiting clerkship at Mayo Clinic (https://college.mayo.edu/academics/visiting-medical-student-clerkships/) as well as to apply for our residency program (https://college.mayo.edu/academics/residencies-and-fellowships/internal-medicine-residency-minnesota/).

Have a great weekend!

Housing Opportunities

Graduate students are highly sought tenants in the Burlington area and property owners often advertise specifically to them with special rates (less than would be offered to undergraduate students). Don't hesitate to ask housing contacts if they would consider lowering the advertised rate to secure a graduate student; it never hurts to ask!
