(JUNE 25, 2024) Christopher Hebert, M.D.’02, clinical instructor of medicine, ran the entire length of the 93-mile Lamoille Valley Rail Trail in honor of late wife, Lisa, who died this past February after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer, WCAX-TV reported.

Lisa led an active and full life—including running and finishing the historic Boston Marathon in the fall of 2021 during chemotherapy, which raised over $21,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Hebert says he decided to do the overnight rail trail run to raise awareness about the Lisa Hebert Scholarship for a deserving graduate of South Burlington High School, which funds raised from his run allowed the family to create.

“It ended up being an amazing day,” friends said. “It was great, it was a really wonderful day. It was a really nice way for all of Lisa’s family and friends to get together and celebrate her.”

“It was the last couple of miles and when I got to the finish and everybody was there, that was almost what was more important or special to me was to get everybody together again, four months after she passed, to have a little gathering and remember things,” Hebert said.
