(DECEMBER 17, 2022) Neuropsychologist Sharon Leach, Ph.D., and child psychiatrist Feyza Basoglu, M.D., both clinical assistant professors of psychiatry, will challenge participants to diagnose psychiatric or neurological disorders as part of the 14th annual Vermont Brain Bee neuroscience competition to be held at the Larner College of Medicine on February 11, Seven Days reports. Vermont Brain Bee is a free, all-day event open to preregistered students ages 13 through 19 that also includes educational components, a Q&A with undergraduate and graduate neuroscience students, and a keynote lecture. The day’s winner will advance to the USA Brain Bee Championship in April at the University of California–Irvine and be awarded $1,000 toward travel expenses.

The International Brain Bee’s goals are to motivate students to learn about the brain and to inspire them to pursue careers in neuroscience so they can help treat and find cures for brain disorders.
