(JULY 27, 2022) In this summer of increasingly dangerous and even record-breaking heat waves, Associate Dean for Public Health and Health Policy Jan Carney, M.D., M.P.H., offered potentially life-saving guidance on how to prepare for and adapt to extreme heat in an article in Health magazine. Most importantly, Carney said people should make a plan in advance of extreme heat, learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of heat-related illness, and know what to do if these symptoms occur. “Know where to get help if you need it. Check often on your loved ones, including your pets and your neighbors. Stay cool and hydrated until temperatures fall,” she said.
