A Journal of Neuroscience study authored by Hugh Garavan, Ph.D., University of Vermont professor of psychiatry, former postdoctoral fellow Catherine Orr, Ph.D., and colleagues on the impact of small amounts of cannabis on the adolescent brain garnered broad international coverage by multiple news outlets. Garavan and Orr say the research is the first to find evidence that an increase in gray matter volume in certain parts of the adolescent brain is a likely consequence of low-level marijuana use.
