Leopold Study on Phantom Odors Gains National Coverage

A study co-authored by Donald Leopold, M.D., UVM clinical professor of surgery, is co-focuses on phantom odors in aging Americans. According to the study, 1 in 15 Americans over the age of 40 experience smelling unpleasant scents with no apparent source.

A recent study co-authored by Donald Leopold, M.D., UVM clinical professor of surgery, is being highlighted by the National Institutes of Health, NBC News, Psych Central, Before It's News, and Alternative Medicine, Sciencemag. The study highlights not only the prevalence of phantom odor perception in Americans over the age of 40, but the negative impacts phantom odors can have on patients' lives.
