Spring 2017 Community Medical School Kicks-off with 200+ Attendees

Community Medical School launched its Spring 2017 series on Tuesday, March 7, with a lecture on “Happiness: Exploring the Science of Well-Being.” The talk by Andrew Rosenfeld, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry, attracted more than 200 attendees.

Community Medical School launched its Spring 2017 series on Tuesday, March 7, with a lecture on “Happiness: Exploring the Science of Well-Being.” The talk by Andrew Rosenfeld, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry, attracted more than 200 attendees.

This free public lecture series, co-presented by the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and University of Vermont Medical Center, features the academic medical center's top faculty experts, who discuss the science behind important health issues. Presentations take place the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Carpenter Auditorium in the Given Building and include a Q&A session.

Additional Spring 2016 Community Medical School dates, topics and speakers include:

April 4: “Battle of the Bacteria: Antibiotic Resistance and the Evolution of Superbugs” by W. Kemper Alston, M.D., M.P.H., Professor of Medicine and Division Chief of Infectious Disease

May 2: Conversations in Serious Illness: Improving Clinician-Patient-Family Communication by Robert Gramling, M.D., D.Sc., Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Holly & Bob Miller Chair in Palliative Medicine

June 6: Facilitated Book Discussion: When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi Robert Macauley, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Director, Clinical Ethics
