Larner Gift and Naming of the College of Medicine Featured in National Media

A historic announcement on September 23 about the estate commitment of $66 million from UVM dual-degree alumnus Robert Larner ’39, M.D.’42, and his wife, Helen, and the naming of the College of Medicine to The Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont received wide coverage, both regionally and nationally.

(SEPTEMBER 26, 2016) A historic announcement on September 23 about the estate commitment of $66 million from UVM dual-degree alumnus Robert Larner ’39, M.D.’42, and his wife, Helen, and the naming of the College of Medicine to The Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont received wide coverage, both regionally and nationally. An Associated Press story by Vermont bureau reporter Wilson Ring focused on UVM's bold mission to move to 100 percent active learning -- thanks to the Larners’ support -- went out on the wire immediately following the announcement and has been picked up by more than 150 outlets in the U.S. Among the top-tier national media outlets running the story were the New York Times, Washington Post,  ABC News, CNBC, Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle, and Chicago Tribune.
