The event’s featured speakers are: Marc Carrier, M.D., of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute; Nigel Mackman, Ph.D., of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine; and Janusz Rak, M.D., Ph.D., of McGill University Health Centre. Holmes will present her work, “Platelets and Anti-Platelet Therapy in Patients with Cancer.” Additional UVM Cancer Center presenters include Steven Ades, M.D., associate professor of medicine and oncologist; Saulius Butenas, Ph.D., assistant professor of biochemistry; and Neil Zakai, M.D., M.Sc., associate professor of medicine and hematologist.

As part of the annual event, the UVM Cancer Center also hosted a competitive scientific poster competition all day on April 29 in the UVM College of Medicine’s Given Courtyard. A spectrum of cancer research was presented by both faculty and students.
