Education

Hood_Virginiainlibrary250X180Our nephrology faculty teach several courses throughout the year to medical students and residents. Our educational programs span all levels of the Vermont Integrated Curriculum and courses include Clinical Medicine, Cardiac, Respiratory and Renal Course and Hypertension. Monthly nephrology teaching rounds are offered for residents and medical students.

Our post-doctoral fellowship program has been accredited by the American College of Graduate Medication (ACGME) since 1987. Through the National Resident Match Program (NRMP), two fellows are selected each year for a two-year clinical program, with an optional third year for those interested in additional research training (requires external funding). The program is designed to train and mentor a fellow such that s/he emerges from the program with competence in all aspects of clinical nephrology. The clinical and educational content of the program and curriculum are aligned with the six core competencies as put forth by the ACGME.
