Climate Stories Project at UVM

Share your climate story! A team of UVM students, faculty, and staff are training to interview and record the climate stories of our community, and we’d love to hear your story! Sign up here to schedule an interview. WHAT IS THE CLIMATE STORIES PROJECT? The Climate Stories Project is an educational and artistic forum for sharing stories about personal and community responses to climate change. It was developed by Jason Davis, PhD, a musician and environmental educator, whose goal is to create a “living artistic documentary” that engages audiences to share and listen to personal responses to climate change. WHAT IS A CLIMATE STORY? Your climate story is about the intersection of your life and climate change. Your climate story is influenced by a combination of factors such as culture, identity, home place,  memories, and emotions, along with observations and responses to climate change. A climate story typically includes the answer to three questions:

  1. What do you care about in your home place or community and how is it threatened by the changing climate?
  2. What are your emotional responses to climate change?
  3. Why are you motivated to confront climate change? What do you envision as a more positive future? How can you contribute to a positive way forward?

  • Innovative assessment design with an emphasis on equity and fairness.
  • Bias investigation and bias mitigation in existing assessments.
  • Innovative program implementation to advance DEI.

NBME will fund up to $25,000 in total for each accepted proposal. Four proposals that can be completed within a 1–2-year timeframe will be selected. We encourage proposals from individuals and/or teams which include individuals who are minoritized and/or marginalized in medicine. Teams are encouraged to include learners or trainees among the membership. Applications are currently being accepted through July 1, 2024. Learn more at NBME.org.
