Faculty Development Video Series for Medical Educators

The Teaching Academy is proud to announce the Faculty Development Video Series for Medical Educators. Improve your teaching with this series of short videos on essential topics for medical educators. This resource features Teaching Academy members and was directed by Laurie Leclair, MD while she served as a Faculty Associate of the Teaching Academy last year.

The Dana Medical Library has a virtual dissection table called an Anatomage Table? This Table is an advanced visualization system for anatomy education that uses touch screen capabilities. Just recently updated with the latest software, the Table’s screen is designed to fit a life-sized image of the human body. Regional/National Call for Proposals

IAMSE 2019 Student Grant Applications Now Accepted

Pass this information on to your students: The International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) is pleased to announce the ScholarRx-IAMSE Student Educational Research Grants Program. All IAMSE student members are eligible to submit a grant proposal. All students will need to have a faculty mentor sign off on the proposal confirming that all policies will be met. Applications are to be submitted on the submission page found here by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on January 15, 2019.

Educational Scholarship Grant Applications Due January 15

The International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) wishes to encourage and support scholarship in medical science education, and therefore announces the 2019 educational scholarship grant program. IAMSE will award multiple research grants up to the amount of $5000 for a 2-year grant period. Applications are to be submitted via the online application form here by January 15, 2019.

All information regarding the IAMSE Educational Scholarship Grant, including the application process, eligibility, proposal format, and evaluation criteria can be found on the IAMSE website here.

Application Open: LEAD Certification Program

The AAMC is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 LEAD Certificate Program. Designed for early to mid-career faculty, LEAD is a one-year, cohort-based program that provides a firm foundation in the best practices and theoretical models of effective educational leadership that are key to advancing medical education at all levels. Get more details, including program components, curriculum details, and costs at https://www.aamc.org/LEAD. The application deadline is January 18, 2019.

The Teaching Academy welcomed Andrew Hale, MD, of UVM LCOM, and Daniel Ricotta, MD, of Harvard and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, on November 30 for the Medical Education Grand Rounds session: "Effective Body Language Techniques for the Medical Educator."

This interesting session had participants acting out different activities and learning new techniques to engage learners.

Drop in hours occur the second Friday of the month from 9 – 11 am, and the fourth Tuesday of the month from 1 – 3 pm. First come, first served.
