CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Community Medical School Advisory Committee seeks proposals for thought-provoking and timely presentations that are accessible to a broad lay audience for the Fall 2020 series of Community Medical School. The deadline for proposals is Friday, May 1, 2020.
The Advisory Committee encourages presentation proposals on any topic, but suggests that applicants consider submitting proposals that address topics related to the current news cycle, breakthroughs in healthcare and medicine, and ongoing research at UVM. Find videos and slide presentations from past presentations in the archives on our Community Medical School web page.
Community Medical School is a 21-year-old program which features the College’s leading experts and educators and is designed to highlight the excellence and expertise at Vermont’s only academic medical center, while providing attendees with a taste of what it’s like to be a doctor-in-training.
Each semester, the UVM Larner College of Medicine and UVM Medical Center partner to host four presentations, each of which take place from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a 30-minute Q&A session, in Carpenter Auditorium in the Given building at the College of Medicine. Presentations are livestreamed and are also taped and aired on local community television. Each presentation typically attracts between 80-200 attendees from around the area.
