Plante Co-Authors Study on Orthostatic Hypotension, per News Medical

(NOVEMBER 7, 2023) Timothy Plante, M.D., M.H.S., assistant professor of medicine, is a co-author of a study offering critical insights into the assessment of orthostatic hypotension among older adults, according to News Medical.

Published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society and based on a secondary analysis of the “Study to Understand Fall Reduction and Vitamin D in You (STURDY),” this study revealed that orthostatic hypotension was most prevalent and symptomatic within one to two minutes after standing but also that orthostatic hypotension assessments conducted after four to six minutes of standing were more informative for predicting fall risk.
