Nataniel Lester-Coll, MD presents at first-ever ASTRO "Refresher" meeting in Latin America

Dr. Lester-Coll in Bogota, Columbia for the first Refresher course in Spanish. He presented an update on lung cancer.

UVM Cancer Center associate member, Nataniel Lester-Coll, MD, presented a comprehensive overview of lung cancer management at the first-ever American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) “Refresher” meeting in Latin America. The conference was organized by ALATRO ("Latin American ASTRO") and ACRO (Asociación Colombiana de Radioterapia Oncológica), Dr. Lester-Coll traveled to Bogotá,  Columbia for the milestone event.

Dr. Lester-Coll, who is half Puerto-Rican and spoke both English and Spanish growing up, studies the latest cancer data that inform clinical decision making. As a radiation oncologist at the University of Vermont Medical Center and an associate professor of radiation oncology at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine, his research aims to determine the optimal courses of therapy for patients based on the relative cost, effectiveness and impact on quality of life. His talk, “Actualización del Cáncer de Pulmón,” provided an overview of the latest techniques and clinical trials that inform current management of lung cancer. 

"Being invited to Bogotá to discuss cancer management was an incredible honor. There was mutual exchange of knowledge and ideas, highlighting the immense value in forming bridges of expertise across borders,” said Dr. Lester-Coll.
