Congratulations to Dr. Emmett Whitaker for being awarded a 2021 Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research Mentored Research Training Grant (MRTG).

Congratulations to Dr. Emmett Whitaker for being awarded a 2021 Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) Mentored Research Training Grant (MRTG). Dr. Whitaker is pediatric anesthesiologist and VCCBH Pipeline investigator whose lab studies the effects of fetal insults on cerebrovascular function. His MRTG project entitled, “Sevoflurane Induced Cerebrovascular Dysfunction in Infant Offspring from Preeclamptic Pregnancies”, will help elucidate how in utero exposure to preeclampsia affects cerebrovascular function in neonatal offspring undergoing general anesthesia. This $250,000 award will fund his research for 2 years, providing preliminary data for his first R01 application.
