Advanced Training Opportunities
Although our program is based at a nationally-recognized academic medical center with various sub-specialty services and cutting-edge research, our vision centers on the provision of emergency care in a resource-limited environment.
To this end, our program provides advanced training and leadership opportunities in these key areas of EM:
- Global health
- Rural emergency medicine
- Wilderness medicine
- Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS)
- EMS medical direction
This unique combination of both academic and resource-limited experiences creates a best-of-both-worlds training environment. Thus, our graduates will be independent emergency physicians who can confidently care for all types of patients in truly any setting.
Our diverse faculty members aim to nurture residents’ development of skills and expertise that will enhance their careers and contributions to emergency medicine. In addition, we strive to foster a culture of wellness, focusing on teamwork among
colleagues, and teaching the importance of relationships. Overall, our program is dedicated to providing each individual resident with the tools, mentorship, and experience necessary to develop a successful career in academic, community, or rural
emergency medicine, while serving patients across our communities with excellence.
