As part of its mission, CVRI seeks to highlight excellence in cardiovascular research and foster new research. The CVRI regularly sponsors networking and career development events. These events include social opportunities for networking, "Science Jams" where investigators provide brief overviews of their research, and journal clubs prior to visiting professor events.
In addition, the ECAC organizes workshops and panel sessions that specifically address the needs of trainees and early career scientists. These have included grant writing, biosketch critique, and promoting your social media for science.
The ECAC holds an annual merit based scientific abstract competition, the Viridis Montis Early Career Investigator Challenge in Cardiovascular Disease, to highlight the best cardiovascular research work conducted by early career scientists at the University of Vermont and UVM Health Network.
