How To Cite CBSR Core Facilities
The CBSR cores exist to support the research mission at the Larner College of Medicine and the University of Vermont. To emphasize the importance of the Cores to administration in this support mission, it is essential that investigators cite the cores in manuscripts and presentations, when used in their research. We recommend that the individual core facilities be cited as follows (please also view the individual core websites for more details):
Harry Hood Bassett Flow Cytometry and Small Particles Detection facility
We respectfully require investigators to cite the Harry Hood Bassett FCSPD facility if the research
they are reporting used our services to design, conduct, or analyze their research, including fee-per service. You agree to acknowledge FCSPD facility. “(experiment) was carried out in the Harry Hood Bassett Flow Cytometry and Small Particles Detection facility (RRID:SCR_022147) at the Larner College of Medicine”.
In all publications, grant applications using FCSPD facility-generated pilot data, presentations (lab seminars, journal club, etc.), and posters (e.g. presented at a conference)
Microscopy Imaging Center
We respectfully request that users acknowledge the Microscopy Imaging Center in any publications resulting from use of the facility or its services. Anyone who uses the MIC should include a General Acknowledgement in their publication. Imaging work was performed at the Microscopy Imaging Center at Larner College of Medicine (RRID# SCR_018821). If you used specific equipment that was purchased with grant funding (AFM, confocal, VERSA whole slide imager) the corresponding grant information should be added.
VBRN Proteomics Facility
The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which funds the Vermont Biomedical Research Network (VBRN), requires that we acknowledge them as the source of funding that supports your work whenever you publish papers, chapters, abstracts or otherwise present your work if you have accessed services in a VBRN Core Facility. Please acknowledge the VBRN grant by number and cite the specific VBRN Core(s) (RRID# SCR_018667) at the University of Vermont in all publications and grant applications if you are using data or tools generated in a VBRN Core.
Below is an example of how you must cite the VBRN grant and specific core(s) used:
“Research reported in this (publication, release) was supported by an Institutional Development Award (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under grant number P20GM103449. Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of NIGMS or NIH.”
**You should also add specific details related to the core facility you worked with. For example, “All target preparation was performed in the VBRN Microarray Facility. VBRN Data Science Core supported all data analysis.”
