Finding Our Common Ground: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion curriculum (FOCG) provides a longitudinal, developmental framework that is designed to enhance the development of cultural humility skills. Knowledge of these concepts
are essential to working in a diverse community, such as ours, as well as to creating and sustaining a culture of inclusive excellence.
The program was developed based on data and best practices that indicate cultural humility development is best achieved when it is voluntary, it takes place over time and engages people to first spend time in reflection on their individual identities.
The goal of this framework is to promote diversity, equity and inclusion as an opportunity for developing lifelong learning skills by participants.
Foundational content is designed to give individuals an opportunity for reflection on their own cultural characteristics, history, values, belief systems and to become familiarized with diversity terminology. The Intercultural Development Plan® (IDP®)
provides a road map for further development.
Activities build upon knowledge gains from foundations, and allows for further reflection and practice. Individual's use their Intercultural Development Plan to engage in a variety of activities meant to further develop cultural humility skills.
