Information for Prospective Students
Ph.D. in Clinical and Translational Science
The doctoral degree is a 75 credit hour program designed for individuals who wish to become full-fledged independent investigators. Students are expected to complete 19 credit hours of core coursework courses (CTS 301, 305, 306, 310, 315, 320, 325), at least 12 credit hours of elective courses, and a minimum of 20 credit hours of supervised research. Students must also participate in the weekly seminar, complete a teaching requirement, pass a comprehensive exam, and successfully complete and publicly defend a dissertation.
Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science
Concentration in Investigation
The Master's program consists of 31 credit hours and is designed for individuals who desire more intensive exposure to focused areas in CTS. Students are expected to complete 19 credit hours of core coursework courses (CTS 301, 305, 306, 310, 315, 320, 325), 6 credit hours of electives, and 6 credit hours of supervised research. Students must also participate in the weekly CTS seminar, pass a comprehensive exam, and successfully complete and publicly defend a thesis. Applicants should have previously earned doctoral degrees, expertise in their specialties and desire the skills to succeed as Principal Investigators. Candidates will generally have had some research experience. A typical candidate would be an M.D. taking a postgraduate fellowship in a medical or specialty, or a doctorate in nursing who wants to enhance or deepen research skills.
