AMA Webinar: "Portfolios and dashboards: Leveraging data for student success"

With advances in technology, the use of data in student portfolios and dashboards is becoming more prevalent in medical education. Portfolios and dashboards can be useful for student self-assessment and reflection, and coaches can use these tools to discuss and help students create action plans that will support their education and development. The medical education program itself can also use them to assess educational goals and as part of continuous quality improvement.

Attend this webinar and be able to:

  • Define the users of student portfolios and dashboards in academic medicine
  • Use the student portfolio to document progress on achieving competencies
  • Describe how coaches can interact with portfolios to help learners identify areas for improvement and set goals
  • Outline the benefits of a system in which coaches have access to all student assessment and performance data in the cumulative student record
  • Use data views from dashboards to inform leadership, course directors and students on real-time progress

Team-Based Learning Collaborative

The Team-Based Learning Collaborative (TBLC) is offering a unique opportunity to experience team-based learning at the 2018 regional workshop in Cleveland, OH on Saturday, September 15, 2018.

This all day session will offer 2 workshops: Fundamental Principles and Practices of TBL & Creating an Effective TBL Module. These workshops will be led by TBLC’s Certified Trainer-Consultants Smita Krishnamurthy and Liz Winter. You won't want to miss these essential TBL courses that, by the end of the day, will have you ready to take team-based learning back to your classroom.

Call for Applications - CDC Funding Opportunity: Case Studies and Supporting Content in Communication, Leadership, and Problem-solving for Population Health

The AAMC, in cooperation with CDC, is accepting applications for a Workforce Improvement Project (WIP). WIPs are non-research public health practice projects developed and funded by CDC Centers, Institutions, and Offices (CIOs). This project aims to provide learning content to the public health workforce in communication, leadership, and problem-solving related to population health. Applications are due by July 30, 2018.   • Class of 2018 Honors Night Celebrates Student and Faculty Achievements

    Graduating medical students from the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont gathered with leaders, faculty members, family and friends on May 14 at the Class of 2018’s Honors Night event in UVM’s Davis Center. In addition to individual student awards, faculty awards, a staff award, and a department award presentation, the event featured the induction of students into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society.
