Leigh Ann Holterman, PhD, Director of Curricular Evaluation and Assessment, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Psychiatry.

Nancy Lemieux, MSN, RN, CHSE, Teaching Academy IPE Visiting Faculty Scholar, Director of Simulation Education at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, has be appointed Clinical Assistant Professor.

The Teaching Academy welcomed Lisa Grefe, MSc as our new Research Specialist. Lisa will manage our medical student curriculum evaluation, including course and clerkship evaluations, and provide assistance and consultation to faculty (and staff and students) on educational scholarship projects.

Faculty Development Series for Clinical Teachers 101

This 3-part faculty development series will cover all the major topics for Medical Education during the Clerkship. This program is available to all teachers, residents, fellows, faculty, and staff (i.e., clerkship coordinators). Each part (101, 201, and 301) consists of 6, one-hour sessions with the curriculum to repeat every 3 years. The curriculum is available at all teaching sites.

A Certificate of Completion will be awarded after completing at least 4/6 of the yearly sessions and a total of 12/18 (70%) of the sessions.

  • Carney Receives Distinguished University Citizenship & Service Award

    University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine Professor of Medicine, Associate Dean for Public Health and Health Policy, and Senior Advisor to the Dean, Jan Carney, M.D., M.P.H., has been named the University of Vermont's 2019–2020 recipient of the President’s Distinguished University Citizenship and Service Award in recognition of her innovative teaching, creative leadership and service to the University of Vermont community.
  • Together We Learn: Resources for Our Journeys in Justice & Inclusion

    This week, the University of Vermont's Dana Medical Library, in conjunction with representatives from the UVM Larner College of Medicine Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, the Office of Medical Communications, and medical students from the College's Student National Medical Association, Latino Medical Student Association, Social Justice Coalition, and the gender & Sexuality Alliance launched a digital resource collection called "Together We Learn."

Frymoyer Scholars Program 2021 Call for Proposals

Through the Frymoyer Scholars Program, the John W. and Nan P. Frymoyer Fund for Medical Education supports physicians and nurses who are actively engaged in teaching University of Vermont medical and nursing students and who embody the best qualities of the clinician teacher. The program is an investment in outstanding medical education and promotes teaching that emphasizes the art of patient care. More details about the program can be found via the website links below. 

Applications for 2021 are due by March 15, 2021. The program has funded 54 projects over the past 20 years. The results accomplished by Frymoyer Scholars have enhanced the learning experience of our students and improved patient care. We look forward to more award-winning projects this upcoming year.
