Teaching Academy Research in Medical Education (RIME) Group
The LCOM Teaching Academy is kicking off a Research in Medical Education (RIME) group in May and we’d love for you to join us! Our meetings are a chance for you to share and brainstorm ideas for research in medical education, foster collaborations, seek feedback on your projects. Call for Applications: Course Director Position
The Larner
College of Medicine invites applications for the position of Course Director
for Connections. Connections is a 3-week course taught to second year medical
students scheduled August 16-September 3, 2021. Students in Connections study skin, connective tissue, and the
musculoskeletal system to introduce them to the clinical specialties of
orthopedics, rheumatology, and dermatology during the basic sciences.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a salaried faculty appointment within the
UVM Larner College of Medicine and an advanced degree (MD, DO, PA, NP, PhD,
EdD, DHSc); Faculty with expertise in clinical and/or basic science of
Connections topics and experience in teaching are encouraged to apply. A
commitment to active learning is required. The description of Course
Director responsibilities is attached.
Compensation
Course directors
in Foundations are compensated through the LCOM Faculty Teaching Accountability
and Reward System funds allocated to the home department and recognized by
protected time before and during the course.

Interested
faculty should consult with their department chair for support providing
protected time before applying. We ask Department Chairs to encourage and
support qualified faculty members to apply. Applicants should send a
letter of interest with their CV to the OMSE Human
Resource Administrator, AnnMarie Jermy (annmarie.jermy@med.uvm.edu) by Friday, May 21st for consideration.
Faculty Development Series for Clinical Teachers 101
This 3-part faculty development series will cover all the major topics for Medical Education during the Clerkship. This program is available to all teachers, residents, fellows, faculty, and staff (i.e., clerkship coordinators). Each part (101, 201, and
301) consists of 6, one-hour sessions with the curriculum to repeat every 3 years. The curriculum is available at all teaching sites.
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded after completing at least 4/6 of the yearly sessions and a total of 12/18 (70%) of the sessions. Recordings are available on the Teaching Academy website.
