Fellowship Program offered by the Teaching Academy
The Medical Education Fellowship Program is a monthly, cohort-style program for Larner College of Medicine
faculty who seek additional preparation for teaching
and educational scholarship across the medical
education continuum. Participants will review
principles of learning
and development, discuss teaching and learning issues with colleagues, and develop instructional and assessment strategies. Participation in the program will also include mentorship for a scholarly
project in
education suitable for presentation
and publication. The program consists of interactive,
seminar-style sessions and readings. An active
learning approach will be used, i.e., materials will be available
in advance of each session and participants will be expected
to draw upon
and apply the materials during the sessions.
Participants will also
have the opportunity to observe teaching sessions and receive feedback on
their own teaching.
The program starts October 11. Visit the Teaching Academy
website for details and the application form. The deadline to apply
is June 24, 2019
DID YOU KNOW? IPE Visiting Faculty Scholar
In early 2018, the Teaching Academy welcomed Nancy Lemieux, MSN, RN, CHSE, as the inaugural Teaching Academy Interprofessional Education (IPE) Visiting Faculty Scholar. We are proud to announce that what started as a one-year, part-time position will continue through June 2020. This role is the result of collaboration and support from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS). The IPE Visiting Faculty Scholar contributes to the development, implementation, and scholarship of interprofessional education. In addition, the IPE Visiting Faculty Scholar participates in and contributes to activities sponsored by the Teaching Academy, including developing and facilitating sessions for faculty development.
Nancy currently serves as the Director of Simulation Education and Clinical Instructor in the Department of Nursing, College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She typically has office hours in the Teaching Academy on Wednesdays, and can be reached at Nancy.LeMieux@med.uvm.edu. Please stop by to welcome her and watch for announcements of future IPE-related activities.
New Teaching Academy Portfolio
The Teaching Academy is proud to share news of the
completion of an updated Teaching Portfolio. We incorporated feedback from
applicants and this will mean a more streamlined process for preparing your
portfolio. For example, we removed a lot of the cumbersome boxes to click
and incorporated more areas to copy and paste from the LCOM Standardized CV
template. You will also notice greater correlation between the two documents.
Along with the updated Teaching Portfolio, we’ve prepared a new Overview and
Quick Start Guide to help you get started.
These, and all other Teaching Academy
application materials, can be found on the Teaching Academy
website.
