New Collection of Resources on Clinical Teaching and Learning Experiences without Physical Patient Contact

The AAMC has developed a resource collection in response to the significant impact on the teaching and learning of health professionals that has resulted during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Designed by a diverse group of educators, this working collection features clinical learning experiences that can be readily used or easily adapted for specific local settings without the need for physical patient contact. The American Medical Association is pleased to announce a request for applications for its Accelerating Change in Medical Education Innovation Grant Program. These grants are designed to provide financial support to hasten the transformation of medical education and better position learners to succeed in our rapidly evolving health care system. View the complete RFA guidelines and gain access to our electronic submission platform. Principal investigators must hold an active individual membership in the American Medical Association. Proposals are due no later than May 11, 2020, 11:59 p.m. Central time.

Regional/National Call for Proposals 

Ferenc Gyorgyey Research Travel Grant - Yale Medical Library

The Ferenc Gyorgyey Research Travel Grant is available to historians, medical practitioners, and other researchers outside of Yale who wish to use the Historical collections of the Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library. In any given year the award is up to $1,500 for one week of research. Funds may be used for transportation, housing, food, and photographic reproductions.   • Christa Zehle, M.D., Named Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education

    Richard L. Page, M.D., Dean of the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, has announced that, following a national search, Christa Zehle, M.D., has accepted the position of Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education at the College. Dr. Zehle, who has served as Interim Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education at Larner since January 2019, assumes the new role effective immediately.
  • Irvin Receives Inaugural W. Fred Taylor PhD Award for NIH IDeA Contributions

    ​Charles Irvin, Ph.D., received the inaugural W. Fred Taylor PhD Award in recognition of his significant contributions to enhance the impact of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Program at the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR)/Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Coalition and Foundation Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on February 24, 2020.

AAMC Building Better Curriculum Webinar: Enhancing Integration through Team Teaching

Wednesday, April 8; 1:00 - 2:00 PM; Remote viewing

Enhanced integration of basic and clinical sciences at the session level promotes meaningful knowledge connections for increased retrieval in clinical settings.  In this session, participants will learn about team teaching models and how to apply them to achieve enhanced session-level integration.  Facilitators will introduce an integration rubric as a tool to evaluate and improve upon session-level integration.  Facilitators will introduce strategies to enhance cognitive integration by optimizing the design and delivery of key content.  In addition, facilitators will explore the challenges and solutions to implementing team teaching in integrated curricula.
