Employment of Medical Students

Policy 912.00

Policy Statement

The Larner College of Medicine (LCOM) does not impose restrictions on the employment of medical students by the University of Vermont or the University of Vermont Health Network if there are no foreseeable conflicts of interest.

Policy Elaboration

In general, medical student employment through the University is administered through UVM Human Resource Services with medical students paid as temporary employees. Part-time income earned through the University will not affect the standard education loan offers all medical students are given.

Students offered an employment opportunity should be aware of UVM Policy - Payments to Students and how compensation may affect their financial aid, if applicable; as well as familiar with UVM Conflict of Interest and Conflict of Commitment Policy and the LCOM Conflict of Interest Regarding Evaluations and Educational Experiences with Student Relatives Policy.
