Attendance: Advanced Integration Level

Policy 510.40

Policy Statement

Students are expected to attend all required sessions while on clinical rotations. In the event of extenuating circumstances, such as although not limited to, residency interviews, personal events (participation in a wedding, funerals), personal illness, or serious illness in the family, students should contact the course director to request an excused absence. Approval for an excused absence may also be given when there are conflicts with a major holiday for the religion that the student practices.

Students presenting academic work at national meetings are ordinarily allowed two days away from course activities (a travel day and the day of the presentation), with the appropriate permission from the course director who can seek direction from the Associate/Assistant Dean for Students, if needed. All requests and faculty communication should be done prior to the course whenever possible. Students are responsible for contacting the course director to learn what make-up assignments must be completed for all the work missed. Failure to complete the work will result in an incomplete grade.
