Yesterday, the UVM Larner College of Medicine hosted two visiting physicians from the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate to discuss internal medicine/pediatrics as part of the Careers in Medicine Fall Specialty Series. When asked why students should consider internal medicine/pediatrics panelist Sam Borden, M.D., Assistant Dean of Admissions for University of Massachusetts Medical School responded, “This specialty has all the advantages of family medicine with more opportunities to subspecialize and a greater depth in pediatrics training.” Panelist and Larner College of Medicine alum Josh Price, M.D. ’15 said that he chose to pursue a career in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics after he learned how robust and interesting the training was. Price said he hoped that after the session UVM future docs would be able to “recognize the versatility of a med/peds.
