Course Description
Join Dr. John King and other faculty and local experts for the first-ever Wilderness Medicine Conference! The conference, which will follow the 45th Annual Family Medicine Review Course, is happening on the afternoon of Friday, June 7 and the morning of Saturday, June 8 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel (formerly the Sheraton).

Audience
Family Medicine Physicians, Nurses and Other Primary Care Providers.
Objectives
The objective of this conference is to equip primary care clinicians and other professionals with updated knowledge on issues related to wilderness medicine. Specific topics to be addressed at this year's conference include heat and cold related illnesses; tick removal, bites prophylaxis and case reviews; Vermont SAR: Case Review of 3 rescues in the Green Mountains; and more. At the end of this conference, participants should be able to:
- Identify important considerations for first aid supplies and training for a backcountry trip.
- Identify challenging clinical cases of Lyme Disease.
- Review current literature and research on high altitude medicine.
- Identify acute life threatening presentations in endurance athletes.
Accreditation

Medicine at the University of Vermont is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for
the healthcare team.
The University of Vermont designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the
credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Burlington, Vermont (formerly the Sheraton). Please make your reservations directly with the hotel, 855-686-8875 prior to May 13, 2019 and indicate your participation in the course to receive special conference rates ($146 per day single to quad occupancy). Room rates cannot be guaranteed after May 13 and are based on availability.
Syllabus
The conference syllabus will be available as an electronic download with presentations as PDF files (included with your registration fee). Please plan to bring your laptop or electronic device with you to the conference to view both the conference materials as well as to complete the online conference evaluations via the UVM CMIE credit system. You will receive an email notification (via the email you used to register for this conference) about a week prior to the conference start date that presentations will be available for downloading. Please note: printed syllabus, paper copies of evaluations and paper CMIE certificates will no longer be provided.
